Tombstones |
Begin by cutting out tombstone shapes from a 2" thick styrofoam board.. purchased at Home Depot for around $27.00 4' x 8' sheet
You should be able to get 8 - 10 stones from 1 sheet of foam
You will need a foam cutter.. Michael's Craft Store approx $7
and sand paper to smooth the edges
ahhhhhh all smooth |
foam skull for decoration ..
Wal-Mart $1
Cut skull in half with foam cutter .. sand down the back to make smooth and glued in place on stone |
Added text on the tombstone with a sharpie |
Using a wood burning tool I carved out the lettering on the stone.. be very careful don't get burnt! |
Painted whole stone with grey flat latex house paint |
Then with a watered down black and green I sponged craft paint on stone.. just let it run down from top of stone for that weathered look |
Here it is all wet still |
ahhhh there we go .. all dry now |
filled in the lettering with black paint |
Will dry a bit more and then will cover with a clear coat to protect from weather... hahahaha imagine that .. first we make it look weathered then we protect it from the weather ! |
The last step will be to drill holes into the bottom of your foam board so that you can stake it into the ground with rebar... you may want to do this step first .. that is up to you.
